1:1 Counselling

Your dedicated counsellor from arrival to departure. A minimum of three individual sessions per week, tailored to your needs, adjusted to your pace, included at no extra cost.

The Heart of Your Programme

At Silkworth, 1:1 counselling is not an add-on – it is the core of your therapeutic experience. From your first day, you are paired with a dedicated counsellor who stays with you throughout your entire stay. This continuity is not a convenience; it is a clinical necessity, particularly for trauma work where trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship are foundational.

Your counsellor gets to know you deeply – your history, your patterns, your strengths, and your blind spots. They adjust their approach as you progress, drawing on integrative, person-centred, and trauma-informed modalities to meet you where you are at each stage of your stay.

What 1:1 Counselling Looks Like Here

Minimum Three Sessions Per Week

Regular, scheduled sessions ensure consistent therapeutic momentum. Unlike weekly outpatient therapy, our residential format means insights from one session can be explored and built upon within days, not weeks.

One Counsellor, Your Whole Stay

No rotating therapists, no repeating your story to different people. Your counsellor builds a deep understanding of you over weeks, allowing the work to go further than any short-term therapeutic relationship can.

Integrative Approach

Your counsellor draws from multiple evidence-based modalities – person-centred therapy, CBT, psychodynamic approaches, and trauma-informed practice – selecting what works best for you at each stage of your recovery.

Our counsellors support clients across a range of conditions including professional burnout, grief and bereavement, and trauma recovery. Counselling integrates with other therapeutic modalities in your programme, including EMDR and group therapy.

Between-Session Support

Because you are residential, support does not end when the session does. If something surfaces between sessions, your therapeutic team is available. This safety net allows deeper work to happen with confidence.

Our counsellors are trained in a range of approaches and will discuss with you which are most appropriate for your needs.

  • Person-centred counselling – non-directive, empathic, following your lead
  • Trauma-informed integrative therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – for specific thought patterns and behaviours
