Your Recovery
What to Expect from Your Stay
Honest, grounded expectations for your time at Silkworth Thailand. What we offer, what we do not promise, and what recovery actually looks like.
Realistic Expectations, Genuine Support
We believe in honesty above all else. Recovery is not a straight line, and no responsible provider can guarantee specific outcomes. What we can promise is a structured, supportive environment with therapeutic support, daily therapeutic work, and the time your nervous system needs to begin healing.
Most guests leave with a clearer understanding of themselves, practical tools for managing their wellbeing, and a sense of hope that may have been absent for some time. But healing continues long after you leave.
What We Offer
Daily Therapeutic Support
Multiple therapy sessions each week – EMDR, 1:1 counselling, group work, and mindfulness – tailored to your needs and adjusted as you progress. This is not a weekly appointment; it is an immersive daily programme.
A Safe, Structured Environment
A calm residential setting with daily routine, nutritious meals, and a supportive community. Structure provides safety for your nervous system, and safety is the foundation of all healing.
A Therapeutic Community
You will share your experience with a small group of people on similar journeys. The connections formed in a therapeutic community are often one of the most powerful parts of recovery.
Aftercare Planning
Before you leave, we work with you to build a realistic plan for maintaining your progress at home. This includes local therapy recommendations, ongoing support strategies, and continued connection with our team.
What We Do Not Promise
A Quick Fix
There is no such thing. Recovery from trauma, burnout, or grief takes time – often longer than any single stay. We aim to give you the strongest possible foundation, not a miracle cure.
Medical Treatment
We are a therapeutic retreat, not a hospital. We do not prescribe medication, provide medical detox, or offer psychiatric diagnosis. If you need these services, we will help you find them.
Linear Progress
Healing involves setbacks, plateaus, and difficult days. We support you through all of them. A “bad week” in therapy is not failure – it is often a sign of deep processing happening beneath the surface.
Permanent Happiness
We aim to help you develop resilience, self-understanding, and practical tools – not a permanently positive emotional state. Life will still have difficult moments. The goal is to face them differently.
What Most Guests Experience
While everyone’s journey is different, common themes emerge among guests who complete a stay of eight weeks or more.
- A reduction in the intensity of trauma responses, anxiety, or depressive episodes
- Greater emotional awareness and the ability to recognise and manage triggers
- Improved sleep, energy, and physical wellbeing
- Stronger personal boundaries and clearer communication
- A renewed sense of purpose and direction
- Meaningful connections with others who understand their experience
