What a 12-Week Programme Looks Like

A clear view of the recovery arc from arrival to reintegration. For many guests, 12 weeks allows deeper, steadier change than a short stay.

The Arc of Recovery

Twelve weeks is our recommended stay length – not because it is a fixed protocol, but because clinical experience and research consistently show that sustained therapeutic work over months produces deeper, more lasting change than shorter interventions.

This timeline adapts to your nervous system, not a rigid schedule. Some guests move through phases faster; others need more time in stabilisation. The framework below is a sample progression, not a prescription.

The 12-week format is particularly suited to our trauma recovery programme and burnout recovery programme, where the depth of therapeutic work benefits from extended time. See our all-inclusive pricing for the full breakdown.

Three Phases of Recovery

1

Weeks 1–4: Stabilisation & Assessment

Arriving, settling in, and building safety. Your initial assessment shapes a personalised programme. Daily structure begins – meals, therapy sessions, mindfulness, and rest. The focus is on nervous system regulation, relationship-building with your counsellor, and establishing the trust that makes deeper work possible. Many guests describe this phase as the first time they have truly rested in years.

2

Weeks 5–8: Processing & Exploration

With a stable foundation, deeper therapeutic work begins. EMDR intensifies, 1:1 counselling explores root patterns, and group therapy provides relational insight. This is often the most challenging phase – and the most transformative. Difficult emotions surface, old patterns become visible, and the real work of change takes hold. Your team supports you through every difficult day.

3

Weeks 9–12: Integration & Reintegration

The final phase focuses on consolidating your gains and preparing for life after Silkworth. What have you learned? What needs to continue? What support do you need at home? Aftercare planning, gradual exposure to real-world stressors, and building a sustainable maintenance plan. You leave not with a cure, but with genuine tools, deeper self-understanding, and a clear path forward.

Shorter Stays Are Also Valuable

Not everyone can commit to twelve weeks. A four-week stay provides genuine stabilisation and the beginning of therapeutic change. An eight-week stay allows deeper processing work. We will help you choose the duration that is realistic for your situation and goals.

Whatever your stay length, our three-phase approach applies – we simply adjust the depth and pace of each phase to fit the time available. No stay is too short to matter.

Whichever duration you choose, the first step is the same: a conversation with our team to understand your needs and recommend the right programme length.
